Words are hard. Here’s some pictures.

What do you do when it’s too hot to read or write? Laser! Jokes… That’s a health hazard. Honestly though this month has been full of lots of different prototyping which I thought would be fun to share with you. All of it will be listed for sale on the website at some point but in the meantime here’s a sneak peek at what I’ve been working on. Disclaimer: there are actually words as well as pictures.

Bottle Keepsake Box

(feat. Tiny Magnets)

This was done as a bespoke order but I was so pleased with how it turned out that I’m going to be adding it to my product line. Eventually I plan on having several different designs on the box but in the meantime I have to shout out my latest obsession: TINY MAGNETS! They give such a satisfying close to the lid and honestly bring me an unreal amount of joy. Seriously - it’s not okay how obsessed I am with them. I will probably make many more box type closures in the future just so I can keep using them.

Christmas Prototypes
(kind of)

Believe me, I know it’s too early to be discussing it but apparently forward planning is a good idea or something (yawn!). I tried my best to get into the Christmas spirit despite the sun still very much screaming at me otherwise. I ended up drawing some woodland animals but decided that if they wore hats then they might be festive after all. These are some MDF prototypes I made and I’m really loving them so far (they’ll be even better on the birch!). Now that it isn’t above 30 degrees the quest to make more festive things continues but given my past behaviour it wouldn’t be surprising if I just end up drawing safari animals.

Tools = Happiness

I added a whole bunch of tools to the household this month. These open me up to a world of woodworking possibilities. The list of things I want to make is endless! I’m probably most excited to use these alongside my laser to create intricate inlays. My first project though will be making my own bedside tables. Once my house is fully furnished I’ll move on to making actual products.

Acrylic Nameplates

As soon as I mastered cutting acrylic I made a nameplate for my laser (and yes - my laser is named in honour of the legendary drag queen Adore Delano - party!). You may have spotted this in the odd photo before but in the future I plan on adding nameplate products to the site for all to enjoy.

The Wedding Shop

This is a major project in the pipeline. Lasers and weddings are a match made in heaven! There are so many things I want to create to help make anyone's wedding day, party or celebration extra special. From place and table names to cake toppers, signage, favours, card boxes and custom guest books, there is so much to add that I'm going to create a new shop front for it. With all these to photograph and write up, the listings will be drip fed onto the shop as they are finalised but I'll still be able to offer everything as a bespoke order in the meantime.

More Bunting Options

My wooden bunting has proved popular this past month which has been great! I also had a custom request for extra personalisation which I now plan to incorporate as a sale option in the future. This, alongside other new optional details, will allow you to easily make this product as personalised to you as you wish.

Cake Toppers (& Cakes)

I love using acrylic for cake toppers and I also love cake. This particular topper was for my Nan’s 95th - I’m not sure how many opportunities I’ll get to reuse it but I’ve kept it in the cupboard just in case. I can make custom cake toppers now in any coloured or mirrored acrylic finish that you wish. My main issue with productising this has been my indecision over what designs to sell or whether to list it as fully custom. My indecisiveness is always my biggest hurdle but realistically I know what my decision will be: when in doubt, do both!

In The Works

I’ve put so many new designs through the laser this month and have even more yet to cut. Some of my favourite are definitely destined to be immortalised into coaster form soon. Placemats and light boxes are also high on my list of things to create. I have the assets sorted for most of these now so I’m excited to start finalising them.

If you like the look of any of these then feel free to message me or let me know in the comments. I’d love to hear from you!
Keep an eye out on my socials for when they’ll each be listed on my website. Until then everything can be put through as a bespoke order if you wish - message me for more details.

Until next month, thanks for reading!
